FREEDOM
FIGHTERS
Independence day is just ahead of the clock. And generally in all Indian minds the term freedom fighter would bring up the thought of mainly our bapuji, that is Mahatma Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and his other companions like Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru and many others. Definitely these people played a very important role in getting us the freedom from britishers.
But have you ever thought who basically is termed as a FREEDOM FIGHTER?
Or are we all just lagging behind the names of the famous personalities only?
I don't mean to deny to the fact that these people are freedom fighters but what I mean to say is that do we all know the meaning of the word, freedom fighter
I've risen this question and I'll surely give an answer to this
A freedom fighter is that person who is engaged in a resistance movement against what he feels is to be oppressive or an illegitimate governing body. Any person who knows the rights and has a voice is a freedom fighter!
There lies a freedom fighter in every corner of the world, stretching up from Nelson Mandela from South Africa who fought against apartheid to our great Indian revolutionaries who rose their voices against the suppression of britishers. Every single one of them is a freedom fighter. The reasons and methods might be different but the motive was always to stand for humanity.
The world is full of freedom fighters but the rarest gems are our Indian freedom fighters. I stated few famous names above about the whole India, not only whole India but the whole world knows about. but deep down in the great golden history of India there are many other unsung warriors who have fought valiantly in order to preserve humanity and secularism in our motherland.
I bet to say that most of us don't know about the Indian freedom struggle except the knowledge dissolved in us through books only.
From Surya Sen to Jatindra Nath Das, from Durgawati Devi to Bir Tikandrajit Singh, from Prilata Waddedar to Pingali Venkayya... this is what I mean by the vastness of our freedom fighters. The vastness is not only because of their regions or works but the way they led their works and perspective reach people, slowly and steadily joining the bricks to build the pyramid free India.
If a fight was violent there was also a fight which was silent. If a fight included guns there also was a fight which only included pens. from abuse to melody, from art to architecture our Indian struggle was carried out in many unique ways by many brave hearts.
I repeat, the ways of fighting might be different but the motive was, is and will be the same. you might question me now that Shifa.. we understand with what you meant with WAS same but what do mean with ' is and will be the same'? we aren't fighting for freedom now. No, you're wrong. We still are fighting for freedom, not against britishers but against the evils that are trying to question the pride and unity of our nation.
We still have those brave freedom fighters standing at the borders of our nation to protect the freedom we've gained years ago. Not only the people who fought before or till 1947 are called freedom fighters but also the soldiers who have ever sacrificed their lives in order to protect the nation, those soldiers who have dedicated their life towards our motherland are also freedom fighters. the freedom fighters who are trying to protect the freedom!
If there is an instance where you have to stand up for the pride of your nation then don't even think twice just directly do anything that you can possibly do. lets be an INDIAN in a true manner and let us keep the blood of our brave-hearts alive in this land.
